Online therapy

Online psychology appointments are available when needed. You may be living in a distant place or just prefer to engage over the Internet from time to time. In those cases where it is safe and effective to provide services online then we are here to help.

Dr Ben Mullings has been providing psychological care over the Internet for 20 years, with his PhD research focused on exploring this very topic. Things are a little different when you’re doing psychotherapy online, however much of the process remains the same.

In terms of hardware, all you need is a webcam, a reliable computer (or smart device), and a reasonable connection to the Internet. Often the easiest way to connect is via Teams using the webcam to see and speak in real time, much like a face to face conversation. It is also helpful to have a headset on stand-by for an audio call if the video drops out. To begin this process, we usually ask that people prepare a short (one page) email providing a little background and telling us what you might like to get out of therapy.

Our standard fees apply for all online consultations. If you’re wanting to access sessions privately without a Medicare referral, then make sure you check with your private health insurer if they cover consultations prior to booking an appointment. Appointment times will need to be negotiated around time differences and additional information about your location may be requested for duty of care. If you have any questions just ask.

Note: Online therapy services are not available for people living in North America.
